Eunice T. Nelson, 1913-2003, Windsor
Eunice T. Nelson, 90, of Windsor, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Golden
Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton.
She was born Aug. 24, 1913, in Albany, a daughter of James E. and Rena Christian
Barnes. In 1932, in Bethany, she was married to Ray Newman, who died earlier.
On Feb. 14, 1947, in Olathe, Kan., she was married to William Francis Smith,
who died March 5, 1975.
Mrs. Nelson was a mother and a homemaker. She worked at Woolworth's in
Kansas City for several years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in
Windsor.
Surviving are four daughters, Aleene Ellis, of Calhoun, Deanna Pendergrass
and Debra Pfeiffer, both of Windsor, and Barbara Cox, of Hermitage; two sons,
John W. Smith, of California, Mo., and Paul F. Smith, of Windsor; a brother,
Forrest Barnes, of Kansas City; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and
seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, David E. "Eddie" Newman; two
grandchildren, Eddie Ray Newman and Thomas Edward Newman; a
great-great-grandson, Ray Alan Marcille; three brothers, Delbert Barnes,
Gilbert Barnes and Lloyd Barnes; and a sister, Peggy Barnes Metheny.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hadley Funeral Home in
Windsor, with Brother Bill Douglas officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Oak
Cemetery in Windsor.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Grace Community Baptist Church
in care of the funeral home.
